An Evening with Phil Gilbert - Irresistible Change: A Blueprint for Earning Buy-In and Breakout Success.
***This is a free, in-person event hosted by Vivek Rao and the Design & Technology Innovation Program @ Duke University.
Event Summary:
After IBM bought his startup in 2010, the Fortune 500 computer company asked Phil Gilbert to reinvigorate how its teams developed products. Gilbert became IBM’s general manager of design, and over the following decade, he brought design thinking—a philosophy that focuses on the experience of the end user—to the company’s 400,000 employees. In his new book Irresistible Change: A Blueprint for Earning Buy-In and Breakout Success, Gilbert digs into this cultural transformation at IBM, offering a practical guide for leaders on how to drive large-scale organizational change by earning adoption rather than enforcing it. The book serves as a roadmap for implementing change through design thinking and agile methods, focusing on making transformations "irresistible" to employees.
A fireside chat with Phil, hosted by IBM alum and Duke Design & Technology Innovation adjunct faculty member Doug Powell, will be followed by networking and a book signing.
