"A Day in the Life" Kick off with Lightning Talks!

  • Citrix, 120 S. West Street, Raleigh, NC 27603
Along with exploreUX, we’re kicking off our “A Day in the Life” series with an evening of lightning talks! Everyone seems to be curious about UX and what practitioners actually do. You might wonder if this is something you’d like to do as the next step in your career. We’ll have presenters speak about their UX role, what’s it like, and how they got there. Lightning talks are 5-minute long, fast-paced talks, where each presenter gets only 20 slides, and the slides automatically advance every 15 seconds. The brevity of these talks make them focused and informative, so you’ll learn enough to get a taste of what the role is like. We’ll try to cover as many roles as possible in the evening, so you can get an overview of which “A Day in the Life” evenings you might be interested in attending. We’re currently looking for speakers (see below) and we’ll announce the roles and speakers for the event in a few weeks.

"A Day in the Life” Series
Starting in April, each month, we’ll feature a UX role and have a guest presenter do a deeper-dive talk about “A Day in the Life” in that role. They’ll cover information including how they got started, their day-to-day work, what they love and don’t like and more. After that, attendees will participate in an activity so they can “test drive” the role.

Call for Speakers!
We’re looking for speakers in all sorts of UX-related roles to present at this event and for the deeper-dive talk (You don’t have to commit to both). Are you someone that would like to give a lightning talk or deeper-dive talk about what you do at work? Do you know someone who’d be great at presenting in this series? These events are a lot of fun and a great way to participate in and get to know your local UX community. We’re looking for speakers to cover the following roles:

• User Researcher
• Interaction Designer
• Content Strategist
• Information Architect
• Prototyper
• Visual Designer
• UX Designer / UX Generalist
• Accessibility Analyst
• Information Designer / Data Visualization Specialist
• and more!
